London Parks ride on 19th April

At the start in Nonsuch we had 25 riders. This is a record for these Saturday rides and no doubt people were tempted out by the fine weather and it being a holiday weekend. It was especially good to welcome a number of newcomers as well as the regulars. With such a large number we split into 2 groups, the latter being led by Pete Chesson from the Wayfarers and, after picking up 2 more riders in Morden Hall Park, we managed to get to the lunch stop in Hyde Park with no one getting lost. The high spot for me was the walk through Dean's Yard, the ride along Horse Guards and the Mall where tourists were out in force, and fighting off swans trying to eat my lunch.
The weather veered between sunny and warm and cloudy and cold. Typical for the time of year unfortunately.

The ride back was sunnier with a following wind with the group finally dispersing in Merton Park. There were no mechanicals or punctures which was a minor miracle on urban roads.
A big thank you to all those who helped with publicity and on the ride itself. The next Saturday ride will be on the 17th May and led by Nigel Taylor. Details will be posted in advance.

Ride on Easter Saturday to London Parks

We will leave Nonsuch at 10  and head down towards Ravensbury Park. South of the river we will visit Morden Hall Park, Wandsworth Common, Clapham Common and Battersea Park.
Crossing Chelsea Bridge we will go through Pimlico and Dean's Yard to Horse Guards Parade, and then via Green Park to Hyde Park where we will probably stop for a snack. After that through Kensington Gardens, Holland Park and down to the river at Fulham Palace Park. We will return via Southfields and Wimbledon Park to Merton Abbey Mills.
I make that 11 parks depending on your definition.
The weather forecast looks quite good for the weekend this far ahead, so I look forward to seeing you all there.

From Anna Balink

We had a lovely ride today to Pyrford Lock. It was a fabulously sunny Spring day and a thoroughly enjoyable ride. Thanks Cliff and Maureen and look forward to the next one!

Sunday Next Step Rides

Cliff and Maureen's Sunday rides from the Mansion Nonsuch Park start at 10 o/clock and finish back at the park between 3 and 4o/clock having stopped for coffee, lunch and possibly tea on the way! Rides are around 35 miles long, held at a steady pace of 11 to12 mph, are slower on hills, and no one will be dropped. In case of punctures help will be at hand but please carry an inner tube of the correct size for your bike. The rides are more socially inclined than performance so come and join us and take another step towards the club's regular rides on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Rides are planned for the 13 April, 11 May and 15 June.
